1995 Dodge Neon STX (total teenage girl car)

After having the Cadillac for 10 years, and then having a Porsche in between, I wanted something that was cheap, something I could drive without worrying where I was parking.  Something that, for a year, would be fun to “bang around in”.  So, I stupidly bought a Dodge Neon SXT in screaming yellow…with a rear spoiler.  Everyday I drove to work, one of the people I work in asked if I brought the teenage girl car to work.  He wasn’t wrong.

So, I stupidly bought a Dodge Neon SXT in screaming yellow…with a rear spoiler.

For a while the car was great, it was a 5 speed, so back to a manual transmission and I truly didn’t care about wherever I parked it.  Ding on the door?  No worries!

Here is where I learned another lesson.  Never buy a car from one of those side of the road dealerships that have like 3 or 4 cars on the lot.  I had decided that since it was only going to be a one year solution, I I found one at one of those side of the road dealerships. It was kind of shady at the time but again, I paid minimal money for it and it was only going to be a year solution. Well, it actually never made a year. The dealership had some issues with the car and they replaced the CPU on the car. That’s usually a massive problem, and one places like that typically don’t disclose. Well, I started to get stuck places. The car wouldn’t start it would turn and turn and turn but would not start. The final straw for me was when that person that worked with me who called it a “teenage girl car “ and I returned from a work trip to a very cold and snowy Manchester Airport and the car wouldn’t start. Not one of my finer moments. Eventually, the card did start, but far too long after it should have.

I do wish that the car had been better, because secretly, and not so secretly now, i really enjoyed driving it!
