My family always had pickups growing up. At that point I think both of my brothers had also had one or two and still had. I guess I secretly always wanted one as well, just it never really made sense for me. So, I decided the Sorrento is kind of boring so, why not try something different. I purchased a brand-new Dodge Ram pickup, crew cab. Now, I am totally out of my element in this truck. But I’m kind of loving it. I had absolutely no reason to buy a pickup, but I was glad I had one. Then, the kids started to drive.

My daughter did surprisingly well in the RAM as she was learning how to drive. I was quite impressed with how well she handled the truck. She did have one slight problem with parking it though. As in, she couldn’t. Now, to be fair, the easiest and best way to park a pickup is to back it in. That is not the simplest of things to teach people as they’re learning how to drive. There may have been a time or two where the gas pedal was mistaken for the break and we almost hit the side of the high school, and then almost took out nine handicapped spot placards. It was around this time that I realized it may be safer for all involved if I got a smaller car 🙂
One thing that I didn’t love about the pickup though, was how heavy the truck was. Even the simplest of rides to the store or the post office, or overly fun because of how heavy the pickup was. My brother tried to get me to look at Fords because he thought that I would like those, since they were a lighter, more aluminum-based truck. Had I listened to him, I may still have that truck.
