2022 BMW x3 m40i

I enjoyed the Durango RT, and I got used to the size of it. Again, one of my issues was that it was very heavy and had a very heavy feel to it. I know, you could say it is what it is, and it was what it was.  But just like the heaviness of the RAM became an issue, the heaviness of the Durango became an issue. This is when I started to research BMWs again. After all I had loved the 340 and everything, I had read about the x3 M40 talked about how similar it was in many ways to the 3 series.  Granted, it was an SUV, so it wasn’t an exact match, but it did have the engine and the transmission that I loved, and it was pushing out 380 horsepower. It also tested well in handling, and especially well for an SUV.

So, I ordered one and was absolutely thrilled with it. The car drove just as well as you would expect from any BMW.

So, I ordered one and was absolutely thrilled with it. The car drove just as well as you would expect from any BMW. The engine and the transmission were just a perfect pairing. It was effortless to drive that car. But, if you wanted to have some fun, it also had a sport mode and a sport plus mode. Who the hell puts a sport plus mode in an SUV? You could cruise around, far quicker than you had any right to in an SUV, all while getting very good gas mileage for an SUV.

The interior of the car was very well built, it was very well finished.  Because I got the car during COVID, it didn’t have a few options, like a wireless phone charger, which was a little bit of an issue. I know, first world problems, right?

The stereo system in the car worked well it wasn’t overwhelming but worked fine. It truly felt like I was driving a BMW car versus an SUV.

The only reason I got rid of it, was because as I was driving through a corner one day, i got a little more oversteer than I would prefer, but nothing outrageous. I realized both of my kids now have their own vehicles, so I wasn’t driving kids around anymore, so why not get something more aggressive?

I have nothing negative to say about the X3M40I. It was a great car.
